Base Mavens was founded on the belief that most performance issues are not execution problems, but structural ones. Organizations rarely struggle because of a lack of effort or intelligence. They struggle when authority is unclear, incentives are misaligned, and decisions accumulate without coherent operating logic.
The firm is built around individuals who are comfortable operating in high-stakes, ambiguous situations — able to move across disciplines, hold competing dynamics at once, and exercise independent judgment without relying on predefined frameworks.
We approach organizations as systems — shaped not only by strategy, but by governance, incentives, and patterns of decision-making. Our work draws on principles from government, economics, and organizational design to understand how systems behave under pressure. This perspective allows us to consistently identify the constraints that meaningfully shape performance.
Base Mavens is informed by direct experience operating within complex, multi-entity businesses undergoing growth, integration, and structural change. This work has included designing operating models, leading deals and post-acquisition environments, and supporting leadership through periods of increasing complexity and consequence.
We engage in situations where the problem is not yet fully defined and the consequences of getting it wrong are material. We work with a limited number of leadership teams to preserve depth, focus, and independence of judgment.
